Saudi Airstrikes in Yemen Have Escalated Existing Humanitarian Crisis – UN
SANAA (Sputnik) — The Saudi Air Force demolished a college and an institute in Yemen's central Ibb province, a military source told Sputnik Thursday.

Since March 26, a Saudi-led international coalition has been conducting airstrikes on positions of the Yemen Houthi faction that took control of large areas across the country, including the capital Sanaa, forcing President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and his government to resign. On Tuesday, the coalition had issued an announcement declaring its Decisive Storm military operation against the Houthis to be over.

"Coalition aircraft conducted airstrikes on a college building in the city of Suhul, as well as on the Department of Sociology in the city of Irim, in the Ibb province," the source stated.

Over 1,000 People Killed in Yemen Conflict Since March 19
Al Arabiya TV channel said earlier, citing its own sources in the Saudi army, that the attack on the educational institutions was deemed necessary, as Houthis had allegedly seized the buildings and reequipped them to be headquarters.

Following declarations of the airstrike's end, the coalition on Wednesday announced the beginning of a new operation called Restoring Hope, aiming to conduct counter-terrorism operations and humanitarian missions, as well as to renew political dialogue between the parties to the Yemeni conflict.

According to UN estimates, over 1,080 people in Yemen have been killed, some 4,350 injured and over 150,000 displaced since March 19.
