Earlier in the day, a source at a law enforcement agency told Sputnik that Houthis rebels had taken full control over Aden port despite efforts by a Saudi Arabia-led international coalition to stem the rebels' advance.
“They [Houthis] do not control the port, there are Houthis only near the port, in the al-Maal area, where the clashes unfolded,” al-Halyaki said.
The situation at the port is quiet, according to him.
On Sunday, the coalition's air forces subjected Houthi positions in Aden to heavy shelling, while its warships bombed rebel strongholds from the sea.
Aden had been the president's stronghold after Houthi militants took control of the capital Sanaa in February. In March Hadi was forced to flee the city as rebels advanced on his refuge.
At least 50 people were reportedly killed in the clashes in Aden.
Yemen is currently experiencing violent confrontations between the Houthi militant group and forces loyal to President Hadi.
