SANAA (Sputnik) — Sources in the north Yemeni province of Saadah said artillery fire has been heard at a checkpoint in the province, and that Saudi troops were supported by Apache helicopters.
The Saudi-led coalition started carrying out airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemeni capital Sanaa on March 25 in response to a request by Hadi.
The countries participating in the coalition apart from Saudi Arabia include United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, Pakistan and Egypt participate in the coalition with intelligence, targeting and logistical support provided by the United States.
Houthi militants have recently taken control of the Yemeni capital Sanaa, forcing elected president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to flee the country. The militants are currently gaining foothold across the country.
