LAUSANNE (Sputnik) The session of foreign ministers from the P5+1 Group and Tehran was intensive, but optimism hangs in the air on reaching results on Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy aspirations, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

“There was a very intensive and profound session of the ministers of foreign affairs of P5+1 with the Iranian delegation. Most importantly, what gives optimism is the decisiveness of all the ministers to reach results,” Ryabkov told journalists in Switzerland.

He added that results could be reached “by not giving any pauses and using the current possibilities.”

The latest round of talks on Iran's contested nuclear program is taking place in Lausanne. Tehran and P5+1 group, comprising the United Kingdom, France, China, Russia, the United States and Germany, have held several rounds of negotiations since November 2013.

The foreign ministers of the P5+1 group have finished a plenary session with representatives of Iran earlier Monday, and are expected to have further bilateral negotiations during the course of the day.

The UN Security Council and a number of countries have imposed several rounds of sanctions on Iran, accusing the country of developing nuclear weapons. Tehran has repeatedly rejected those claims, stating that its uranium enrichment program is for peaceful purposes only.

March 31 is the deadline for reaching a framework for comprehensive deal on the nuclear issue. The deal itself is expected to be reached by the end of June, 2015.
