Local people have reported renewed airstrikes carried out by a coalition of countries led by Saudi Arabia on targets in the capital Sanaa; the primary targets were buildings in the diplomatic quarter and the raids continued overnight, from Sunday evening through early Monday morning.
The raids follow reports on Sunday that an overnight strike on the headquarters of the rebel republican guard at Al-Subaha base in Sanaa had killed 15 soldiers.
A military spokesman for the Saudi-led Arab coalition told the press on Sunday that airstrikes in Yemen would continue until ousted President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi could return to the capital and govern once more. "We will set the conditions necessary to allow the president and his government to run the country," said Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri, a spokesman for the coalition of ten Sunni Muslim countries carrying out attacks on areas held by Houthi forces.
