SHARM EL-SHEIKH (Sputnik) – Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who recently fled the country, arrived on Friday in Sharm el-Sheikh, the host city for the upcoming Arab League summit.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi met Hadi at the airport upon the Yemeni president's arrival.
The summit of the League of Arab States will take place between March 28 and 29. National security in Arab countries will be the main topic on the meeting's agenda.
Hadi earlier fled Yemen as the Houthi rebels in the country made advances and carried out attacks on the city of Aden where the Yemeni president was until recently residing.
On March 25, Hadi requested military aid from the Arab League nations, and later the same day a Saudi Arabia-led coalition of countries launched airstrikes on Houthi positions in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa.
The United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, Pakistan and Egypt form the coalition, alongside Saudi Arabia. The United States provides intelligence, targeting and logistical support.
