Iran is ready to cooperate with Google and other Internet giants but only if they respect the country's cultural norms, as well as rules and policies, senior Iranian official said.

"We don't oppose all those people who are in the international market and want to provide services in Iran, and we are ready to hold negotiations with them for their service providing in the Iranian market after accepting Iran's cultural conditions," Fars news agency quoted Deputy Communications Minister Nasrollah Jahangard as saying.

The official also mentioned that authorities would not interfere with the work of service providers from the United States and elsewhere unless they violate Iranian rules and policies. Over 30 percent of Iranians have Internet access in a country of nearly 78 million people, according to the World Bank.
