IDF Vehicle Comes Under Fire on Lebanon Border, 15 Israeli Soldiers Killed
Earlier in the day, the IDF launched at least 25 shells on Shebaa Farms in the Israeli-occupied Lebanese territory. The move was reportedly made in immediate retaliation to a Hezbollah attack on an Israeli military convoy, for which the resistance movement claimed responsibility.

Israel's northern borders were subject to heightened tensions on January 18, when an Israeli helicopter fired missiles at a group of militants near the Syrian town of Quneitra, killing six Hezbollah militants. The group pledged to carry out a "fierce" and "destructive" response.

Hezbollah is a Lebanese Shiite political party and militant group established in the 1980s to oppose Israel's occupation of Lebanon. It is considered a terrorist organization by Israel, the United States and a number of Western countries.
