MOSCOW (Sputnik) According to police, three detainees were charged with damaging public property and taken to one of the police commissioners. Dozens of demonstrators gathered around the building following the detention.

People started gathering in Sao Paulo, as well as in other cities across the country, on Monday, the day when the impeachment process against Rousseff opened. Earlier in the day, protesters burned tires, blocking several streets in Sao Paulo.

The protesters are unsatisfied with acting Brazilian President Michel Temer's austerity program and fear that he may remain in office if Rousseff is impeached.

It has been reported in the media that a vote on Rousseff removal will be held later on Tuesday.
