Brazil Police to Summon US Swimmer Ryan Lochte to Testify - Reports
17:23 GMT 25.08.2016 (Updated: 11:10 GMT 06.08.2022) A Brazilian police official said US Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte will be summoned to Brazil to testify about the gas station incident that occurred during the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — According to a Fox News report, Lochte will not be penalized for failing to appear if he is summoned other than preventing him from engaging in a plea deal, should one be necessary.

Lochte had alleged that he and three other US swimmers were robbed at gunpoint by people claiming to be Brazilian police officers.
He has since apologized for exaggerating the story and for his immature behavior.
A police investigation revealed the four swimmers were detained and asked to pay for the damage they caused to a gas station while intoxicated.
Security camera footage shows a security guard drawing his weapon when the swimmers tried to leave.
