MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The president and the first lady arrived in Nicaragua’s capital Managua, home to the Supreme Electoral Council, to register, television channel Televisa said.
The 80-year-old president, a former guerrilla fighter, is seeking reelection for a third term. He is running against five other contenders.
His wife will be vying for vice-presidency after having served as Ortega’s spokeswoman. She is already believed to wield significant power in this Central American nation.
