The new social networking website “Hello”, developed by Turkish-born software engineer Orkut Buyukkokten, was launched on July 19. The network, available via a mobile application, means to bring people together in the so-called “shared-interest” communities.

When asked whether “Hello” differed from all other existing social networks, Orkut said that ones like Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Reddit and Instagram were used to spread their content, for private messaging, comments and for anonymous participation in forums. However, they failed to create an environment where people would feel free to meet people and make new friends.

“Hello was created to fill this void. It will help bring people together and will help them find friends with shared interests and passions. Our users will be able to share their work, ideas and experience. We created Hello with the new generation of users in mind,” he noted.

Orkut Buyukkokten said that the new social network was about building a society where people would feel that they are needed and not being judged by anyone.

“When our community reflects what we really are, our passions and feelings, we begin to love ourselves and the people around us. Fear and hatred have no place in such a loving community,” he emphasized.

Orkut also mentioned the many resources and instruments he had to protect members of the new community and promised a speedy response to their complaints about wayward users and inappropriate content.
