MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UK police have arrested a total of 297 people during the two-day Notting Hill Carnival in west London, the Metropolitan Police Service (Met) said on Monday.
As of Monday, a total of 141 people have been arrested at the Notting Hill Carnival, including 61 for drugs offenses and 43 for weapon (blade) offenses, the police said.
"Some individuals have been arrested for more than one offense. In addition, 26 knives were seized by police," the police's statement reads.
On Sunday, 156 participants of the Carnival were arrested on total. Police added, that there were four incidents where people were stabbed, including two 15-year old boys, a 20-year old man and a 16-year old boy.
More than one million people attend the Notting Hill Carnival in West London annually. The carnival is notorious for increasing the criminal rate in the district.
