"Five people who were detained earlier have been released after interrogation. At this stage, no charges have been pressed. According to prosecutors, the coroner is leading the case under the article "deliberate arson and causing damage to a building by means of an explosion", the statement reads.
Earlier in the day, media reports emerged claiming that a car rammed through the fence surrounding the building of the institute, located in northern Brussels, after which one or more attackers exploded a bomb at the site. The building was reportedly empty at the time of the attack, hence the explosion did not result in any casualties.
A Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson told RIA Novosti later that the Belgian authorities had no evidence the blast was caused by a bomb. The authorities have claimed that nothing indicates to the incident being a terror attack, while saying it could be at attempt to eliminate evidence.
