WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US government is not aware of American citizen casualties and is trying to establish the locations and conditions of citizens in the region following a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit central Italy, a Department of State official told Sputnik on Wednesday.
"We are not aware of US citizen casualties at this time," the official stated. "The US Embassy is working to verify the welfare and whereabouts of US citizens in the area at the time of the earthquake."
