LONDON (Sputnik) – "Detectives from the Met’s Aviation Policing Command arrested a 28-year-old woman from Ealing on suspicion of fraud today, Thursday, 11 August. The arrest relates to suspected fraudulent activity in the vetting process for airside security passes at Heathrow Airport. There is no suggestion that this is terrorist-related," the Metropolitan Police said in a Thursday statement.
Earlier in the day, UK media reported that the passes of about 300 employees at London’s Heathrow Airport had been suspended amid an investigation into alleged fake pass use at the airport.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed in its statement that certain security passes have been suspended.
"The Met is aware that a number of security passes held by Sodexo employees have been suspended as a precaution. This investigation is not terrorism-related," police said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, two women were arrested on suspicion of fraud and money laundering. One of the women is being investigated in relation to the security pass vetting process issues, according to police.
