MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated on Wednesday that Moscow was interested in easing of tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh and expressed hope that a compromise could be reached in the dispute.

"I would like to emphasize that Russia is interested in easing of tensions between our neighbors. We will continue to provide all possible assistance in search for solutions through the OSCE Minsk Group as well as through direct contacts with Yerevan and Baku," Putin said following talks with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

"We are hoping that Armenia and Azerbaijan will find a compromise, without winners or losers, solution of existing conflicts," Putin stressed.
