Two friends who recently moved to Germany from war-town Syria have developed a mobile app to help fellow newcomers complete the paperwork in their new homeland. Radio Sputnik linked up with Gaith Zamrik, one of the developers of the application, to learn how he came up with this idea.

The program called Bureau-crazy is aimed at navigating the maze of German bureaucracy. It is intended to help newcomers with papers, translate documents into Arabic and English as well as provide information on frequently asked questions.

"If you are new to Germany, you just ask a question regarding the application process and the app tells you what papers you need," Zamrik told Sputnik. "Sometimes when there is a lot of pressure and lots of people… it takes a lot of time and a few things you have to do are sometimes a little bit complicated for a new person who comes to Germany. So that's why we are trying to help with that and simplify it," the man explained.

Zamrik and his friend who started learning coding in Germany after their arrival, plan to regularly develop their app. The long-term goal of the project is to create a system that would help new-arrivals in every aspect of their new lives, including opening bank accounts or renting an apartment. While app is still in the development stage, its creators hope to launch the product by the beginning of next year.

"First, we will publish it as a web-based application so everybody can use it. Then we are expanding to Android and then IOS. And then it will be free to download. So we are not going to charge people to download the app," Zamrik said.

He also added he hopes the app will enjoy great demand and could be used not only in Germany, but in other countries as well.

"After we launch the app here in Berlin first and if we see that there is an actual need for it and people are really interested in this app, we might expand it throughout Germany and in other countries. Maybe we'll come to Russia, too," Zamrik stated.
