ROME (Sputnik) — The investigation started after a person from the Italian northern commune of Savona informed law enforcement authorities about the message she had received on WhatsApp from an unknown contact in Morocco, with a photo of a girl with a machine gun.
According to Il Messaggero newspaper, the two arrested, 27 and 44 years of age, were living in Savona for years. They have been charged with the recruitment of new members for the Daesh terrorist group, outlawed in Russia and many other counties.
Monitoring of social networks showed that the suspects had created profiles on Facebook, using the other people's phone numbers.
The arrested previously had criminal records, according to the newspaper.
