There were no casualties among the military personnel during an explosion at an arms factory in the eastern Azerbaijan city of Shirvan on Tuesday, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

BAKU (Sputnik) — The main hospital in Shirvan reported earlier on Tuesday at least 21 people had been hospitalized after the blast at the Araz, which had been caused by sparks hitting objects aimed for disposal. Azerbaijan's Trend news agency said all injured in the incident were military servicemen.

"The servicemen were not injured in a blast at the arms factory in Shirvan," the ministry said in a statement.
