LONDON (Sputnik) – According to police, the attack occurred on Wednesday afternoon, when one man tried to drag the unarmed serviceman towards his car. The serviceman managed to break free, but the second man got out of the car carrying a three-inch knife and attacked the serviceman who still managed to run away in the end.
"Our victim resisted that, managed to break free, effectively fought free from that attack and rendered the first assailant – well, he effectively knocked him on the floor," Det Supt Paul Durham told journalists as quoted by The Guardian on Thursday.
Durham said the attack was most likely pre-planned. Terrorism has not been ruled out although there has been no particular evidence to prove one claim or another. Police said both of the attackers were "of Middle Eastern origin in appearance" and were between 20 and 30 years old.
