PARIS (Sputnik) — French special services have staved off a total of 16 terrorist attacks in the country since 2013, French President Francois Hollande said Wednesday.
"A total of 16 terrorist attacks have been prevented in France since 2013," Hollande said.
In May, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced that French authorities had prevented 15 terrorist attacks since 2013.
European countries have been boosting their security measures for months following a number of deadly attacks, such as a series of attacks in Paris on November 13, the multiple blasts in Brussels on March 22 and a truck attack in France's Nice on July 14.
