A video was released by Anadolu news agency showing how participants of the military revolt in Turkey tried to enter the hotel in Marmaris where the head of Turkish state reportedly stayed amid the coup attempt.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was vacationing in a hotel in Marmaris, when a coup broke out in the country.

The video shows the hotel from a distance and loud gunshots are heard being fired. It also shows a helicopter flying over the hotel. Earlier, there were reports suggesting that the president’s guards managed to keep the Turkish president safe amid the coup attempt.

The video was first published on a Twitter account by the news agency Anadolu.

On Friday evening, the Turkish military attempted to seize power in the country. After the failed coup, security forces detained more than six thousand people, including senior military officers and judges.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged people to take to the streets, stating that the coup attempt was carried out by a small group within the military.

Reuters report suggested that the coup attempt was suppressed by early Saturday, with Prime Minister Binali Yildirim stating that all coup supporters had been detained and the country was returning to normal life.
