"The elections at the voting stations in the Republic of Croatia will take place on Sunday, September 11, 2016," the decree published on the Croatian Index.hr news website said.

In June, amid a governmental crisis, Croatian parliament adopted a decision to dissolute, following a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic. Soon after the decision to dissolute was made, Grabar-Kitarovic announced that she would set the date of new elections, within the framework of the terms prescribed by country's legislation.
