BRUSSELS (Sputnik) – Next week’s European Foreign Affairs Council will address the latest deadly terrorist attack in the southern French city of Nice despite an agenda that has been set in advance, EU foreign affairs spokeswoman Catherine Ray said Friday.

"The fight against terrorism is not on the agenda [of the Foreign Affairs Council] but it seems likely that the point will be raised during the Council," Ray said at a briefing in Brussels of Monday's upcoming gathering.

At least 84 people, including children, died during Bastille Day celebrations late Thursday when a heavy truck rammed into a crowd of people on the promenade in the resort city.

"There will probably also be a minute of silence at the beginning of the Foreign Affairs Council, also over the breakfast and lunch discussions with John Kerry, it seems extremely likely that the question will be raised and discussed," Ray underscored.
