LONDON (Sputnik) — Incumbent UK Labour Party's leader Jeremy Corbyn will be automatically nominated for the post in Labour's fresh leadership contest, the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) announced on Tuesday.
"The NEC has agreed that as the incumbent leader Jeremy Corbyn will go forward onto the ballot without requiring nominations from the Parliamentary Labour Party and the European Parliamentary Labour Party… All other Leadership candidates will require nominations from 20 percent of the PLP [Parliamentary Labour Party] and EPLP [European Parliamentary Labour Party]," a party spokesman said in a statement.
