LONDON (Sputnik) – British Prime Minister and Conservative party leader David Cameron should be replaced by September 2, the party’s high-level committee said Monday.
The 1922 Committee made up of 18 influential Conservative members said nominations for the new party leader will open on Wednesday and close the following day.

Cameron announced following the United Kingdom’s vote to part ways with the European Union less than a week ago he would step down from his post this October.
Home Secretary Theresa May, former Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne have been pegged as likely candidates to succeed Cameron.
