Swiss Police Arrest Islamist Leader for Allegedly Radicalizing Youth

Swiss police arrested Wednesday a prominent Islamist leader known as S. who allegedly played an important role in radicalizing local youth and recruiting them to fight for Daesh in Syria and Iraq, the SRF broadcaster reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Swiss police detained the Islamist leader known as S. and now he reportedly remains in a regional prison of the Bern canton.

S. is said to be actively engaged in radicalizing the Muslim youth in the northern Swiss city of Winterthur, known as the country’s Islamist stronghold.

He was reportedly spreading radical ideas in a local mosque, fitness centers and a fight club, according to the SRF. He also played a crucial role in the Islamist network "Lies!" that sent at least two extremists to fight in Syria for the Islamic State group, outlawed in Russia.
