British Special Forces troops have taken inspiration from Bollywood to develop a new way to fight Daesh troops in Libya.

On the advice of a Pakastani-born British Army Intelligence officer Special Forces troops with the Special Boat Service (SBS) have now started blasting music from the Bollywood charts in areas held by Daesh, the group also known as ISIS/ISIL.

Daesh have banned music in several territories that they have control over, believing the music to be un-religious and a dangerous influence.

The use of the music acts not just to 'annoy' the militia, however. In studying the response time that Daesh troops have in reaching the source of the music, military intelligence officers can better pin point the exact location and strength of Daesh forces.

The British Special Forces troops based in Libya are there in a non-combat role, primarily to train local forces in the region. In one incident they are reported to have used this 'passive' means of tackling militia forces on the outskirts of the Libyan city of Sirte. With the help of Libyan forces two cars were left at the checkpoint outside of the city and at dawn remote controls were used to blare Bollywood music from the cars' speakers.

The use of music as a means of psychological torture is not a new notion.

It was previously alleged that the United States of America used theme tunes from children's TV shows such as Barney and Sesame Street as a form of torture on Prisoners of War.

People have taken to social media to give their own recommendations of which Bollywood songs may annoy Daesh the most.

Twitter users have also offered up some non-Bollywood suggestions for use as a means of torture…
