KIEV (Sputnik) – Ukraine's Naftogaz has no intention of paying Russia's energy giant Gazprom $670 million for gas delivered to eastern Ukrainian territories not under Kiev's control, Naftogaz’s press office said Wednesday.
“Naftogaz did not receive gas from Gazprom at the entrance points of the gas transportation system in uncontrolled territories and has no intention of paying for it…Ukraine’s Naftogaz has not purchased gas from Gazprom since November 2015, and before that imported gas exclusively through its entrance points in the gas transportation system in territories controlled by Ukraine. All of the volumes of gas purchased by Naftogaz have been considered by the parties and paid by Naftogaz. The company expects that a solution to all of these mutual demands in accordance to the existing contracts between Naftogaz and Gazprom will be delivered by a court of arbitration,” the press office said in a statement.
