A narrow majority of the Dutch residents do not want a referendum on the country’s membership in the European Union, a survey revealed on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Of the people surveyed, 54 percent said they are against the vote, with 46 percent supporting it, the Ipsos Netherlands poll found out. In case the EU referendum does take place, 64 percent of the Dutch will reject the exit from the bloc, according to the poll.

Some 1,000 people took part in the survey.

It comes three months after a poll conducted by pollster Maurice de Hond showed the majority of the Dutch supported the in/out referendum.

According to media reports, some of the organizers of the April Dutch referendum, which rejected the approval of the EU-Ukraine association agreement, had plans to push for a vote on the Netherlands' withdrawal from the European Union.
