The latest data coming in from the Scotland Parliament election count shows that the Scottish National Party (SNP) is leading with 40 seats.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – SNP is followed by the Conservatives who have 5 seats, the Liberal Democrats are in the third place with four seats and the Labour Party is fourth with only one seat, according to figures released by The Telegraph.

Earlier, the leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party Ruth Davidson said she was "confident" that her party would come ahead of Labour, taking second place in the Scotland Parliament elections.

SNP candidate in Edinburgh Eastern beat Leader of the Scottish Labour Party Kezia Dugdale by 5,000 votes, according to The Telegraph.

Local elections were held across the United Kingdom on Thursday. Results from council elections and the Scottish Parliament are expected before Friday morning. Results of London Assembly elections and the announcement of the new Mayor of London are expected by Friday afternoon.
