PARIS (Sputnik) — French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault will participate in the Normandy format ministerial meeting to be held on May 11 in Berlin, the country's Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said Monday.
"Jean-Marc Ayrault will participate in the May 11 Normandy format ministerial meeting in Berlin announced by the German Foreign Ministry," Nadal told the briefing.
The Normandy Four group comprising Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany was created in 2014 to secure a peaceful settlement to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The group has held several rounds of talks on Ukrainian reconciliation, most notably in February 2015 when the quartet's leaders brokered a ceasefire deal in Minsk, Belarus, signed by Kiev and the Donbas pro-independence militias.
