MOSCOW (Sputnik) — NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's statements on the West not seeking confrontation or arms race with Russia contradict the facts, a senior Russian lawmaker said Monday.
"NATO is not seeking confrontation with Russia, Cold War and arms race, Stoltenberg said, moving the alliance's military structures toward Russian borders," Alexei Pushkov, the head of the foreign affairs committee of the lower house of the Russian parliament, wrote on his Twitter account.
НАТО не хочет конфронтации с Россией, хол. войны и гонки вооружений, заявил Столтенберг, приближая военные структуры альянса к росс.границам

Over the past two years, NATO has carried out a number of large-scale military exercises along the alliance's eastern flank, bordering Russia. Moscow has warned against NATO’s increased military buildup along its border, stating that it is provocative and threatens regional and global stability.
