Brexit Last Chance for UK to Protect Borders From Migrants - UKIP Leader

UKIP leader Nigel Farage said Brexit could be London's last chance to protect its borders and control migration.

LONDON (Sputnik) – The United Kingdom exiting the European Union may be the country’s last chance to defend its borders and control the refugee influx, UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader Nigel Farage said Friday.

"… we know that EU membership and uncontrolled migration are synonymous… This [Brexit] may be the last opportunity we get to be a normal country once again," Farage said in a speech in Westminster.

Farage also expressed concern over Turkey's accession into the European Union, warning that "Turkey is asking for more and more [funding]."

UKIP is a right-wing party that has been urging UK voters to support the country leaving the 28-nation bloc to stave off continental Europe’s migrant crisis. The June referendum was called by Prime Minister David Cameron after he renegotiated the terms of the United Kingdom’s EU membership.

According to a poll by the TNS market research company published earlier in April, the number of Brexit supporters almost equals the number of opponents (34 percent against 38) with the rest of voters still undecided.
