Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service (SFS) will look into the recently emerged allegations that President Petro Poroshenko set up three offshore companies to evade taxes, SFS head Roman Nasirov said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Sunday, the German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung exposed alleged involvement of a number of former and current world leaders, including Ukraine's president, in tax havens schemes using the information obtained in materials allegedly leaked from Mossack Fonseca, a Panama firm selling offshore companies.

"Yesterday I instructed the State Fiscal Service's individuals department to verify reports and find facts that we could check," Nasirov said, as quoted by the Ukrainian UNIAN news agency.

It comes a day after the Radical Party of Ukraine announced launch of the impeachment process against President Petro Poroshenko over his alleged involvement into the tax heaven schemes.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) refused to launch investigation into the matter saying it exceeds its authority.

Mossack Fonseca refused to validate the information contained in the leaks and accused reporters of gaining unauthorized access to its proprietary documents. It warned that using unlawfully-obtained data was a crime that it would not hesitate to punish by legal means.
