MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Kiev authorities are attempting to justify their sabotage of the Minsk peace accords by artificially maintaining tensions along the contact line in eastern Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday.
"By artificially maintaining tensions along the contact line, the Ukrainian authorities are clearly trying to justify their efforts to sabotage the implementation of the political aspects of the Minsk agreements," the ministry said in a statement commenting on a recent escalation of tensions in Donbass.
The ministry said, in particular, that Kiev refuses to respect its commitments on the withdrawal of weaponry with caliber under 100-mm, on the demining and on the ban on firing exercises along the contact line.
The ministry expressed concern over Kiev's actions and call on the Ukrainian authorities to respect its commitments.
