KIEV (Sputnik) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon emphasized the need for a political and diplomatic settlement of the situation in the country’s eastern regions, the press service of the Ukrainian leader said Wednesday.
"Petro Poroshenko and Ban Ki-moon noted the need for a political and diplomatic settlement of the situation in Donbass, based on the implementation of the Minsk agreements and agreed to meet next week during the visit of the Ukrainian president to Washington," the presidential press service said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with the UN chief.
