MOSCOW (Sputnik) Both Belgian special military hospitals and the civilian ones are treating those injured in the explosions that hit the country's capital Brussels earlier in the day, a press officer with the Belgium’s Fire Brigade and Emergency Medical Service (SIAMU) of the Brussels-Capital Region told Sputnik on Tuesday.

"If a person is severely burnt, he is sent to a special military hospital and then, if necessary, they are sent to other hospitals throughout the country. It [the number of injured] is too much for one country," the press officer said.

He added that the service's firefighters were working at the moment at the scene of the explosions in the Brussels metro stations and the Zaventem airport.

"At this moment, there is still a so-called intervention [reaction] team in the metro… Our firefighters also went there [to the airport] to support firefighters at the airport," the press officer said.
