MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Information that all migrants coming to Europe are Syrians is the distortion of truth and attempts to manipulate the public opinion, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Now, they are saying that our participation in the fight against terrorism in Syria is almost the root cause behind the migration crisis, although it had started a very long time ago, when they bombed Libya and turned it into a route for smuggling illegal migrants from half of Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan, and there are also Pakistani refugees. They are still trying to make it look like all of those [refugees] in Europe are Syrians. It is the distortion of truth and deception of the public," Lavrov told the Russian REN-TV channel.
