Merkel said the refugee crisis is the "biggest challenge" she has faced while in office.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the refugee crisis is the "biggest challenge" she has faced while in office.

"As of today, the migration crisis is the biggest challenge during my term of tenure… But while I am the chancellor, I am solving the problems the country faces," Merkel said on Sunday in an interview with German ARD TV channel.

Merkel added that despite the huge migrant flow, she hoped that the German approach to the resolution of the ongoing crisis was correct.

Europe has been beset by a massive refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants fleeing their home countries to escape violence and poverty. Germany has become a key destination for refugees, having received around 1.1 million migrants last year alone, according to the country’s interior ministry.

The German people should string this woman up from the nearest lamp post.

it has been one of a series of intellectual and principled challenges which she has fallen upon. Just one other includes the wire tapping scandal,

What to expect in this power play with people's lives when Volker Perthes is the UNO director for the Geneva peace negotiations.

Volker Perthes, a ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ lobbyist, worked previously under Condoleezza Rice and Merkel.

The biggest challenge during her office is being loyal to Germany.

Perhaps Merkel in Germany and Tsipras in Greece should be tried for treason. The fact that they are still in government means that they have backing from the usual powerful centers.

Biggest challange to serve her leaders
    but not the german people.
Biggest challenge to keep the hidden agenda she is fulfilling unseen.

    datt,
of course, when there are no Christians living in Europe anymore.
One hundred years ago there were more than 10 percent Christians living in Turkey, today less than one percent??

Incorrect! It is not "as of today..." it has been months in making, if she has not realised.

If Merkel had even been half a politician, the migration/refugee crisis could never have happened because she'd long since have had the vision and savvy not to have tagged along as an obedient lackey over the years of a US and UK, forever bent on mindless imperialist, falsely created wars in countries all over the world, but in this instance the ME and Africa, as she'd have realised the backlash would be desperate refugees flooding Europe. She'd have put her foot down and echoed Putin by saying, NO! -- Over my dead body will I allow what US et al does, ends up prostrating Germany and Europe on all fronts.

Where was her mind when the US engineered the coup in Ukraine, followed by the creation of ongoing chaos when US lap dog NATO virtually invaded Eastern Europe right on Russia's border? This woman's sins are too numerous to mention, as it also includes the US "brainchild" TTIP, which bodes both economic enslavement and suicide for the EU. Further, the worst of it all is that she destroyed Germany's economy with her treacherous actions towards Russia, Germany's long time solid economic ally. She's not only a lose canon, but a highly dangerous one for Germany and she should retire from politics altogether. Period.

you'd be quite worried if she didn't consider it to be the biggest challenge of her tenure

When ordinary people could see clearly how Merkel was destroying Germany, did she think the support of her party and all of Germany would continue to be Kaffee und Kuchen for her?
