Junior doctors in England will hold three strikes and launch a judicial review after the government introduced new controversial contracts, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The UK junior doctors and the country's health authorities have been in talks over the new contracts for several months. According to the British Medical Association (BMA), the amendments to the labor contracts may lead to lower wages and an increase in doctors' usual working hours up to 15 instead of 12. The contract may also lead to cuts in pay.

According to the BBC, the strikes will take place on March 9, April 6 and April 26.

"Further strike action is completely unnecessary and will mean tens of thousands more patients face cancelled operations… We urge junior doctors to look at the detail of the contract and the clear benefits it brings," a Department of Health spokesman said, as quoted by the media outlet.

UK Health Minister Jeremy Hunt confirmed introduction of the contracts on Febraury 11.

The junior doctors have already staged numerous mass strikes across the country.
