MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Four residents of the refugee center in Ljusne were said to stab a fifth resident with an unidentified sharp object on Saturday, The Independent publication cited Swedish media reports.
The latest is reported to be the second death at a refugee housing center in Sweden in less than 30 days. A 22-year-old worker at a refugee center for minors in Molndal was stabbed to death, allegedly by a 15-year-old asylum seeker of Somali origin, late in January.
Up to 140,000 refugees are expected to apply for asylum in Sweden in 2016, according to the Swedish Migration Agency. Justice and Migration Minister Morgan Johansson said Stockholm aims to "steer the number down" to 70,000.
Authorities estimated in January that nearly half of last year’s 160,000 applicants would be rejected.
