Biden, Poroshenko Discuss Ukraine Reforms, IMF Cooperation
KIEV (Sputnik) The IMF approved a four-year $17.5 billion assistance package to Ukraine last March in exchange for government reforms. IMF chief Christine Lagarde criticized Kiev on Wednesday over the slow pace of changes.

"The program of Ukrainian reforms has received the backing of the International Monetary Fund, hence cooperation with the IMF is our priority task for the year 2016," Yatsenyuk announced at a meeting with the diplomatic corps.

Lagarde voiced her criticism during Wednesday’s phone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. She said that Ukraine risked returning to a pattern of failed economic policies characterized by slow progress in fighting corruption and improving governance.

It came days after Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius announced his resignation in protest over alleged attempts by Poroshenko’s administration to put obstacles in his way.
