MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "This crisis has created a new business sector, a network… Some people are earning money from deaths…Financial inspection, also in regards to tax paying, is a must," Guillaume said, as quoted by the Hurriyet Daily newspaper.

She added that financial surveillance and inspection mechanisms should be implemented in order to reach people, who lead the illegal activity and not focus on ordinary offenders.

Currently, the European Union is struggling to find a solution to a massive migrant crisis as thousands of hundreds of individuals seek asylum there. Over 1.83 million illegal border crossings were detected by the EU border agency Frontex in 2015. Turkey serves as a major route for migrants fleeing crisis-torn countries in the Middle East to enter Europe via Greece before continuing through the Balkans to central Europe.
