Operation at Site of Deadly German Train Crash to Last Several Days
Two trains operated by the regional train company Meridian in Bavaria crashed head-on as they travelled at a high speed on a single-track route, in what has become one of the deadliest rail accidents in Germany’s modern history.

Up to 700 emergency personnel – rescuers, firefighters, police and other agencies – were called to the scene to pull passengers from the wrecked train carriages that had derailed on the impact.

Criminal police have taken over the investigation that aims to determine the details of the lethal collision on the track between Rosenheim and Holzkirchen. No comment on the purported cause of the accident was released.
