The family of a 13-year-old Russian-speaking girl, who was reportedly raped in Berlin by several immigrants, has no complaints against the activities of the city's police in the investigation into the case, a lawyer hired by the family said.

BERLIN (Sputnik) — On January 16, Russia's Channel One aired an interview with a woman claiming to be the girl’s aunt, who said her niece had been abducted on her way to school in Berlin and raped by Arab migrants. Two days later, Berlin police released a statement, saying there was no evidence that the kidnapping and rape had taken place.

"No we are at the stage where the main part of the work is done by police. They should investigate the case and find the criminals… Three days ago we have were assured that police has been carrying out the investigation. And we do not have complaints against them at the moment," Alexej Danckwardt told RIA Novosti on Friday.

He added that the situation was complicated by the fact that soon after the incident one of the police officers told parents that the investigation would be ceased, despite the fact that only prosecutor's office could make such a decision.

According to Danckwardt, the recent police statements saying that there neither abduction nor rape occurred could be explained by "legal niceties," while prosecutor's office confirmed on Thursday that the crime took place.
