MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Five Danish political parties, accounting for the parliamentary majority, agreed the plan, which would be debated on in Denmark's legislature on Wednesday, the Financial Times news outlet reported.

Under the proposed law, the asylum seekers would be able to keep the valuables of "special personal significance," such as wedding rings or family portraits.

Europe is currently struggling to cope with a massive refugee influx, with hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing conflict-torn countries of the Middle East and North Africa in search of asylum in stable and wealthy EU states, such as Denmark.

The EU border agency Frontex detected 1.55 million illegal border crossings at the course of 2015. According to official figures, over 13,000 people applied for asylum in Denmark in the first 10 months of 2015.
