BERLIN (Sputnik) — The arrest took place in Friday, according to the statement. Prosecutor accuse the 26-year-old man of involvement in the now-defunct German Taliban Mujahideen, a radical Islamic organization and a Taliban affiliate.
According to the arrest warrant, the arrested had been trained in an Islamist camp on the Afghan-Pakistani border between November 2009 and February 2010, and was allegedly involved in the production of propaganda video.
The German Taliban Mujahideen extremist group's activity ended in 2010, as several of its leading members were killed. According to some reports, the group had split into a number of smaller factions.
Afghanistan and Pakistan have been suffering from the activity of the Taliban, a militant group formed in the 1990s, seeking to establish sharia law. The Taliban is known to have been behind numerous deadly terror attacks in both countries.
