Conspiracy theories are circling the internet after four hackers claimed that they uncovered evidence, linking three social media accounts used by Daesh recruiters to computer services once operated from Whitehall.

One hacker told London newspaper The Mirror:

"We traced these accounts back to London — the home of the British intelligence services."

A source, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Sputnik that the British Government "has been selling IP addresses for ages" which is how Daesh began using them — legally, as well as illegally.

The British government published a draft version of its 'Investigatory Powers Bill,' on Wednesday, which gives law enforcement the power to intercept, and collect information from internet providers on individual internet users, and then imposes a gagging order to prevent anyone disclosing that the warrant even existed. - Sputnik International

Indeed, the UK government has admitted it sold two unused IP addresses to two Saudi Arabian telecoms companies.

According to the hacking group known as VandaSec, the accounts could potentially still link back to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as records of the addresses have not yet been updated.

The DWP told online publication, the Daily Star, that it no longer owns the IP addresses and insisted that there was no link between the British government and Daesh.
